Top Travel Items To Pack On International Trips (Your Must-Haves)

Updated: Jan 29, 2023

Traveling internationally can be an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience. But it can also be overwhelming if you’re not prepared. That’s why it’s important to make sure you’re packed with the right items to get the most out of your trip. With the right items in your suitcase, you can make sure that your travels are comfortable, enjoyable, and well-prepared for any surprises that may arise. Here’s our list of the top travel items to pack when traveling internationally to make your trip a success:

1. Passport, Visa &/or Other Travel Documents: Before you can even think about packing, you need to make sure that you have your passport and visas up to date. This is your ticket to travel, so make sure that you take care of this first.

2. Universal Power Adapter/Plug Adapter: Don’t forget to bring a power adapter that is suitable for the country you are visiting as the outlets are often different from your home country you are travelling from and this will enable you to charge your phone and other electronics. Often times, hotels do not have them available and you can waste a half of day during your trip trying to find a local store that sells them so a universal adapter is a great choice to bring & it’s compatible in most places around the world.

3. Money Belt / Belt Bag or Fanny Pack: Money belts help keep your cash and essential documents safe and secure and are designed to be worn around your waist and hidden under your clothes, making them difficult to detect by potential thieves. Additionally, some money belts are waterproof and secure, meaning your belongings won’t be exposed to the elements. They also help prevent you from losing your items. Sometimes wallets can fall out of your pocket or a purse can be left accidentally in a restaurant or tour bus as you explore and sightsee. This is one less thing you don’t have to think about losing since it stays clipped to your body.

4. Local Currency: Don’t forget to bring some local currency with you. This will make it easier to pay for things while you’re abroad and ensure that you don’t get stuck with large exchange fees when using your credit cards.

5. Travel Insurance: When travelling abroad, it’s essential to have adequate travel insurance to keep you and your family safe and covered. This is especially important if you plan to participate in any activities that may be considered dangerous or risky.

6. Packing Cubes: Packing cubes are a great way to maximize your suitcase space and keep your belongings organized. This will make it easier to quickly find something if you need it and make sure that everything stays neat and tidy.

7. Reusable Water Bottle: A reusable water bottle is essential for any international trip. Not only will it help you save money on buying bottled water, but it will also help you stay hydrated during your travels.

8. First Aid Kit: In case of any minor medical emergency, having a basic first aid kit with you is a must. This way, you can be prepared to deal with any minor issues that may arise while travelling.

9. Swimming Suit: Don’t forget to pack your bathing suit for the Spa, jacuzzi/hot tub / pool or ocean.

10. Comfortable Clothing: Make sure to pack clothes that are comfortable, lightweight, and easy to layer. This will make sure that you can dress for any weather that you may encounter and will be comfortable during your travels.

11. Emergency Cash: Including small bills for exact tips, or Visa Entry Fees

12. Tampons /Feminine Hygiene Products: Tampons and/or preferred feminine Hygiene Products may not be available at your destination.

13. Entertainment: Be sure to download your favorite movies or tv series on Netflix /Hulu and other streaming platforms on your electronics before leaving your home to enjoy at the airport or during flight
